We live just east of Colorado Springs and witnessed an amazing lightning show tonight that followed a large hail storm. The timing was perfect as I was reading about Nikola Tesla who experimented with wireless electricity transmission in Colorado Springs in 1899. This picture is of Tesla with his magnifying transmitter in his Colorado Springs lab in 1899.

The Great Deluge of 2023
Colorado received historic rains last week. Our location received 4.25” of rain in just a couple of hours. We thought it was novel how a river was flowing through the pasture behind our property. Until we realized a lot of that water ended up in our basement. Our entire second level flooded. We discovered the water when it was about half way through the second level. The next few days were spent tearing out carpet and drying out the basement which was at 85% humidity. We now are working on recovery efforts. Grateful that I had just finished cleaning the homeschool room out, and fortunately most of our belongings and furniture were saved. We call it our FEMA disaster site.

This is the End- Broody Journey Two
Unfortunately Ms New Broody has gone unbroody. We moved her last night out of necessity to protect her eggs and try to give her privacy and peace. But the move caused chaos and she is now unbroody. She didn’t sit on the eggs all day and it was kind of cold out today. So we are thinking it’s too late for this batch of eggs to incubate.
We candled them last night and there was development.
The odd thing is that she is still making the momma clucking sound and keeps looking for her eggs, even though we put her right on them last night in her new, private luxury maternity suite. We let her out of isolation tonight and will see what happens.

You Belong With the Wildflowers
"Wildflowers are my favorite kind of flower, momma"- my young daughter told me. I had answered petunias to her question of what my favorite sort of flower is. But I now agree- I spied these gorgeous flowers growing out of the most clay like area of dirt on our property. Despite the harsh environment and weather conditions, these flowers grow and thrive. They are a different sort of beautiful. God's creation teaches so many lessons in the smallest of details.
Welcome!
